About Song of Hope
55.5X35.5cm
The main body of ‘Song of Hope’ features an array of hand-cut hearts representing those presently supported by Migrant Help. On the back of these hearts are the initials of their clients. With the cutting and naming of each of these hearts I held on the thought of them, offering love, freedom and hope. These are stitched together with threads to represent our human connection.
Within the centre there is a raised square, a holding space representing imprisonment, within this, is an unknown, uncounted selection of hearts with no identifiers. These represent those victims who have no name, no voice, those who need help. Within this section I focused on sending love, connection and hope out to their worlds, a whisper to the universe to say they aren’t alone.
About my work
My creative work brings together art and meditation with love, human connection and compassion. Creating vibrant & textural abstract art that employs repetitive motifs as acts of meditation (often a heart as a universal symbol of love). Within my work I offer a safe space in which others can explore their emotional responses to find peace and healing.
